Resolutions for 2012

Respected Bhagavathas,

Although adiyEn did not start this blog with a definite purpose, the patronage and support received from Bhagavathas have provided adiyEn with a definite purpose and direction.

adiyEn sensed a dearth in the availability of English commentaries for Thennacharya srisooktis. There is a need to improve the access of Thennacharya sri sooktis to the Srivaishnava audience that are not proficient in Tamil. In this regard, adiyEn made a humble start by translating the pAsurams of Manavala Mamunigal’s Aarthi Prabandham into English.

As another year dawns, adiyEn will resolve to provide English as well as Tamil commentaries on the following thennAcharya sri sooktis in 2012:

1) Manavala Mamunigal’s Upadesa Rathinamalai
2) Manavala Mamunigal’s Yatiraja Vimsati
3) Koorathazhwan’s Pancha Sthavam.

If adiyEn wraps up the commentaries of these srisooktis well in time, we may consider adding a few other projects to this list. However, adiyEn does not propose to cover Pillai Lokacharya’s ashtadasa rahasyangal here. It is adiyEn’s humble opinion that one should be instructed in Rahasya Traya Mantras and PL’s works through formal Kalakshepam type education.

Being a humble knowledge seeker, adiyEn has to extensively read the vyakhyAnams of periyavAchan pillai, PBA swamy, manavaLa mAmunigal and pillailokam jeeyar (wherever applicable) before providing translations. Since this would require a considerable expenditure of effort in terms of time, adiyEn does not intend to make this a daily effort. However, adiyEn will attempt to be regular (with atleast two posts a week), with due consideration to adiyEn’s academic and spiritual commitments.

adiyEn looks forward to your continued support and patronage to make this kainkaryam possible. However, work on the proposed granthAs will begin only after duly completing the Thiruppavai translations that are currently in progress.
